| Likes: | 4.2-liter V8 cranks out 420 horsepower. 0-60 sub 5 seconds, ¼ mile at 106 mph. 6-speed auto is quick, with paddles, brakes excellent, steering firm. active suspension handling predictable. Flip-up vents dazzle first-time passengers, also parking camera and blind spot monitor impress. |
| Gripes: | Unrecognizable as a Jaguar. Seems like a driver’s car, but where’s the 6-speed and full gauges? Silly pop-up console shifter right beside cupholder – oops, sorry about spilling my latte into the electronics. Cramped back seat, garish orange leather, faux “machined” plastic dash. Custom Volan mags frighteningly unprotected from curbs. Dismal rear visibility. |
| Verdict: | Anonymous contender in hotly contested market delivers no bragging rights. Let’s hope the new Indian owners have a lot more style. For now, I’ll take the faster, better-looking, 6-speed Pontiac G8 GXP for $40,000 and a first-class, round-world trip for two. |
