
New for 1959, the Galaxie began life as a variant of the highly successful Fairlane. The year is considered by many to be a high water mark in Ford styling and the Galaxie was one of the decade’s most memorable automobiles. Six body styles were available, including the innovative Skyliner retractable hardtop convertible. When Ford totally redesigned its range for 1960, it ensured that the one-year-only, first-of-a-kind Galaxie would be one of its rarest and most collectible post-war models.
Sold new via Ocean Motor Sales of Winthrop, MA, the car offered here first changed hands in 1976, when it was purchased by the present owner. That same year the odometer’s recorded mileage stood at 4,500. In the succeeding 28 years, approximately 1,000 miles have been added.
