David Kinney, an American Society of Appraisers Accredited Senior Appraiser, currently serves as the Personal Property representative on its Board of Governors. Growing up in suburban Washington, DC, David spent all of his waking hours, talking, reading and breathing everything automobile, much to the chagrin of teachers and other authority figures. Dave's first "real job" was working for Thoroughbred Motorcars as lot boy and gopher, providing him with an opportunity to learn about and even drive Ferraris, Maseratis and Rolls Royces, occasionally with the boss' knowledge. After college, Dave founded Contemporary Classic Automobiles in Arlington, VA, and later ran an automotive repair and multiple automotive parking facilities. Since 1990, David owns and operates USAppraisal in Great Falls, Virginia, a dedicated automotive-only appraisal firm. Dave Kinney is proud of his association with SCM, and is equally proud of the fact that his articles and auction reports have appeared in every issue of SCM for over five years. David is married to Stella Koch, and together they survive life with Lacota, the world's most cantankerous cat even though they are looking forward to adopting a dog in the very near future. Dave's hobbies include reading everything automotive, theatrical Shakespeare productions and tending to his collection of over 15 vehicles. Even though he no longer plays a contact sport, he still enjoys the local favorite, politics. Dave continues to be bemused knowing that his former English teachers at Williamsburg Middle School, Yorktown High and Park University are astounded knowing that thousands and thousands of people read his writing every month.
