A native of England, Paul Duchene has been an automotive journalist for 40 years and a motorcycle rider for 48, starting with a 1939 James autocycle at age 10.
He is Executive Editor of Sports Car Market Magazine and has been the magazine’s motorcycle columnist since 2002. Prior to that, he was an award-winning writer and editor for The Oregonian newspaper for nearly 20 years. He has written for the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Autoweek and Consumer’s Digest. He is a judge at Forest Grove Concours and the Legend of The Motorcycle and an announcer at motorcycle and historic auto races
Duchene has vintage raced a T500 Suzuki, completed a half dozen Alcan 5000 winter rallies and restored, or at least extended the life of 150 cars and motorcycles. Every time he gets overconfident, he buys a Citroen DS19 and is suitably humbled again. He still plans to buy a rear-engine Czechoslovakian Tatra, one of these days.
