Steve Ahlgrim
Steve Ahlgrim
Contributing Editor

Hailing from Michigan City, Indiana, Stephen Charles Ahlgrim received his BA from Indiana State University in Industrial Arts. He taught high school auto shop and electronics in Indiana for three years before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. There, he worked for FAF Motorcars, Atlanta's then Ferrari dealer. Starting as lot boy, Steve eventually worked his way up to become General Manager and Vice President.

Steve’s been a car guy all his life; his father had him in a Quarter Midget at age 10. By 14, he was totally consumed by the perfume of gasoline. His first car was a metallic burgundy 1964 Nova SS convertible, followed by a 67 Mustang fastback, a Porsche 914 and then a Lotus Europa. In his adult years, Steve has been a self-proclaimed “one-trick pony,” coveting the Ferrari and Alfa marques (except for a brief affair with a BMW M5 that still lingers as a pleasant memory).

Steve now serves as General Manager of the T. Rutlands and Maranello Auto Parts Companies, Ferrari parts specialists in Tucker, GA.

Steve has participated in numerous Ferrari Club track events, and has vintage raced an Austin Healey 3000. He’s been involved in Concours judging for more than 20 years, still likes to buy and sell a few cars, and takes pride in doing his own repairs. The Ahlgrim’s are a Ferrari family. Chris, Steve’s “first and only wife,” is the Membership Services and Advertising Director for the Ferrari Club of America (call the FCA's 800 number, and it rings in the spare bedroom). Steve serves as Regalia Chairman and Membership Co-Chairman for the Club. The Ahlgrim’s 16-year-old son can be found most evenings on Alfa chat (Alfa Kid GTV6) or Ferrari chat (Ferrari Kid 308)and just got his first car, an Alfa GTV6.

Steve appreciates the many friends he’s made through the hobby for “making my job one I wouldn't trade with anyone.”
