After two weeks on the road, I’m headed home.

First stop last week was Auctions America by RM in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where we shot 3 episodes of What’s My Car Worth.  A new feature this year has me actually road-testing the cars that are going to cross the block; cars I got to drive included the barn-find 289 Cobra that sold for $467,500, a 1969 Land Rover SIIA 109 and more. There was an Alfa GT Jr. that I felt the red mist for, but luckily it sold when I was busy doing something else.

Then on to Gooding at Amelia Island, where we filmed 3 more episodes. SCM’er Donald Osborne joined me as co-host, cars driven included a 1953 Siata 208 coupe that sold for $605,000, another 289 Cobra that was a no-sale at $350,000 and a 1973 Porsche 911S that was also a no sale.

The Concours itself was the best ever; terrific weather brought out terrific crowds. I judged a variety of 1950s sports cars including two Abarths, a Lea Francis, XK 120, two Alfa 6C 2500s and a very early 356.

The SCM booth was busy the whole time, with Cody, Tom, Chad and our iPad app team leader Michael Cottam swamped with requests for renewals and new subscriptions. They also collected over 300 new email addresses from fanatics who wanted to start getting this newsletter every week.

That’s all for this week, talk to you again next Tuesday.
