 A classic in the making? DaimlerChrysler showed its new Firepower concept, a ballsy Hemi powered sports car that may work out to be the brand’s first straight-on competitor to the Corvette. Built on the Dodge Viper’s chassis, the Firepower weighs less than 3,400 pounds, so the huge 6.1-liter, 425-hp version of the V8 should give plenty of gusto. Chrysler claims a top speed of 175 mph and 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. Since it shares components with the Viper and could be built alongside it, production is very likely. |
