This year’s highlight is a light blue FSO Warszawa M20, 1958, the late Pope John Paul II’s very first car. The Pope ordered it when he became Auxiliary Bishop of Krakow in 1958, and it was delivered to him on 28th of October 1958. The papers, which will be sold with the car confirm that it was immediately registered under the Pope’s name in Krakow with the number plate KR 96 13. Possibly due to bad experience with cars, the pope was hit once by a streetcar and again by a truck in 1944. He never obtained a driving licence, but as a Bishop used a chauffeur. His chauffeur eventually bought the car from the Pope in the late 1970s, and it was given to the present owner in 1988.
