Sunday 26 March at 11am Byron Kennedy Hall Entertainment Quarter Bonhams & Goodman will kick off their gala week of auctions in March with an auction of Collectors Cars, Motor Cycles and Boats including part of the collection of the late Harold Clisby of Adelaide. The auction house recently announced its major 2006 auctions will be conducted at Byron Kennedy Hall, Entertainment Quarter (the Old Fox Studio's) in Moore Park. Heading the catalogue of exceptional cars is a superb Bentley 6 1/2 litre Speed 6 replica, executed by the late Tony Townsend for a noted Australian collector (image attached), estimated to fetch between $580,000-$780,000. Highlights also include a Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing with Rudge Wheels (est $530,000-$580,000) and a Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster (est $400,000-460,000) . In 2003 Bonhams & Goodman sold a similar Gullwing for $583,000 - a record price. Offerings from the Clisby collection include the renowned c1969 Toyota 2000GT, the rarest and most valuable of all Japanese sports cars which is expected to fetch between $100,000 - $140,000 and a rare 1933 Brough Superior SS100 - the most internationally famous of all motorcycles, T.E Lawrence “Lawrence of Arabia“ was a famous owner and lost his life on one. (est. $140,000 - $180,000). Recently consigned is an internationally rare and important c1926 Sunbeam Twin Cam 3litre Super Sports Tourer, a rival of the famous vintage Bentley and is expected to fetch between $160,000 - 200,000. Other important entries include a c1928 Rolls-Royce Phantom 1 Saloon, body by Windover (estimate $85,000 - 125,000) by order of a major Australian trading bank(est. $160,000 - 200,000) . The auction will also include the magnificent "MV Alexa" - a 1946 vintage Halverson twin diesel 47ft motor cruiser (estimate $300,000 - 400,000) and valuable and collectable numberplates.
