Style, particularly the roofline; good low-end torque; V8 exhaust note sounds right; interior functional and retro, if a bit Spartan; has a front end that looks like a Mustang


Cupholders rendered useless by the need to shift; short shifter, long throws; gauge binnacles as deep as the Holland Tunnel, small gas tank means you can watch the needle fall as you drive


Ford’s factory resto-rod feels like an unruly old cruiser around town, but reveals a more sophisticated level of suspension tuning when really pushed. A nice improvement overall, but it’s still a Mustang—brash, powerful and immature, just as a pony car should be. Learn the lines of this car; it’s the one that will cut you off during your morning commute
