Troy, MI. February 12, 2008 -–The Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance announces that the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 Spider Touring, Best of Show winner at its 2007 world class auto event, recently received the Louis Vuitton Classic Concours Award. The unanimous choice among a field of select competitors, this rare 1938 Alfa Romeo is owned by Ray Scherr of Westlake Village, California.

Regarded by collectors as one of the best sports cars of the pre-war period, the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 Spider Touring’s engine was designed by the legendary Vittorio Jano. It was bodied by Carlo Bianchi Anderloni of Carrozzeria Touring. “This latest recognition is extremely exciting,” said Meadow Brook Concours Event Chairman Larry Smith. “Not only does it pay tribute once again to a grand automotive achievement, it underscores the fact that the Meadow Brook Concours is an event that attracts the most elite collectors.”

The Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance continues to enhance its reputation as a premier automotive celebration by adding all-new activities to its wide array of motoring events and parties. Festivities begin on Thursday, July 31, 2008, with the return of last year’s hugely successful hangar party and culminate on Concours Sunday, August 3 with the world-renowned exhibit and competition.

Making an exciting debut in 2008 is Destination d’Elegance which will be held on the grounds of the grand Meadow Brook Hall. This one-of-a-kind experience will feature Bistro d’Elegance, Shoppes on the Green, and lifestyle seminars such as State of Ferrari Collecting and Italian Wine Tasting. According to Concours Executive Director Matthew de Larcinese, “This will be a rare opportunity for local, national and international specialty vendors as well as culinary masters to display their latest products and masterpieces in a setting that only a Meadow Brook Concours can provide.”

Destination d’Elegance will kickoff on August 1 with the Club Concours Next Gen Preview Party, during which young professionals can stroll through eateries, enjoy live music and be the first to see the event’s vintage and concept cars.

Other activities include a high performance motoring tour and a Ride and Drive to be held in conjunction with the RM Classic Car Auction on August 1. Also confirmed for 2008 are features such as significant Ferraris, 8 litre Bentleys, the 100th Anniversary of General Motors, 16 cylinder cars, vintage motorcycles with sidecars, the Class of 1933 and the 100th Anniversary of the Model T.
