BMW to Bring Brand New Z4 to 2006 Concours

Hilton Head Island, SC – The Hilton Head Concours d’ Elegance & Motoring Festival announced today that its returning, primary sponsor, BMW, will be previewing its newest luxury automobile, the Z4 Coupe, Saturday & Sunday, November 4-5, of the event.

Helen Limpitlaw, Field Marketing Operations Manager, BMW of North America, LLC, said, “We are excited to announce the release of the newly launched Z4 Coupe. The quality that this event presents reinforces the BMW brand. The Hilton Head Concours d’Elegance & Motoring Festival is the only such event in the nation that BMW Group has placed their marque on as the main sponsor.”

“We are delighted to have BMW’s sponsorship again this year as well as the privilege to preview its newest model,” Dr. Doerring, Event Chairman, said. “We have had great success with BMW’s support in previous years and are excited to bring something new and unique to this year’s event.”

The BMW Z4 Coupe, to be released this month, will be on preview and available for test drive at the November Concours. This model, manufactured at the BMW plant in Spartanburg, SC, has rarely been made available for public preview in the South Carolina market.

BMW will return as the Concours’ major sponsor, reinforcing its commitment to the annual Island event and the state. The Spartanburg plant is the company’s major U.S. manufacturing facility and recently expanded to accommodate for the production of all Z4 Coupes. This expansion has assisted in the improvement of South Carolina’s economy by providing a wealth of jobs for state residents.

“We are very proud to share a common goal and success with the Concours of contributing to South Carolina’s and Hilton Head’s economic development,” said Max Metcalf, Assistant Manager of Community Relations for BMW Manufacturing Co. “We have made a commitment to being a corporate citizen to the state and it is extremely important to BMW Manufacturing Co. to not only provide quality vehicles but also to contribute to the state’s welfare and economy.”

Since the event’s inception five years ago, the Concours in combination with BMW’s increased participation has helped to raise hotel occupancy (up 20% since 2003) and number of visitors to the Island (up 11,000 since 2003) during the week of the Concours.
