Traverse City, Mich. (February 2007) – The Collectors Foundation, a nonprofit grant-making corporation designed to serve young people – the future of collector vehicle and classic boat hobbies, announces the appointment of Dick Dixon to a new consulting relationship with the Foundation. Dixon brings to the Collectors Foundation a strong background in the automotive industry, marketing, management and consultation.
Dixon is currently the Director of the International Motorsports Alliance in the College of Business and Public Administration at California State University, San Bernardino campus. In this key role for the university’s automotive and motorsports education, intern and mentor program, he also developed an industry workshop program sponsored by NHRA and AAA Motorsports.
Collectors Foundation’s Executive Director, Bob Knechel, comments: “Dick’s 30 plus years in the automotive industry coupled with his experience in education make him an ideal fit to help the Foundation expand its outreach and partnerships.”
As consultant to Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA), Irwindale and California Speedways, OCCCarParts.com and AutoZone, to name a few, Dixon holds many an award and achievement for his work in the automotive industry. He is also a member of such organizations as SEMA, NHRA, Motor Press Guild, Society of Automotive Engineers, Indy Racing League race team and Goodguy’s Rod & Custom Association.
Holding both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Organizational Management, Sociology of Work and Small Business Design, Dixon was publisher/principal at ACCESS Buyers Guide and ACCESS Street Rod Yellow Pages from 1996 to 2003 and in 2002 founded ACCESS RPM, a performance aftermarket database publication. Previous to this post, he took the company RaceSearch.com Inc. to international recognition as the largest automotive eCommerce company worldwide.
