August 24, 2010 — One of the largest and most fun-filled Corvette events in the world, the annual Corvettes at Carlisle event, takes place this weekend, August 27-29. More than 4,000 Corvettes representing all generations of America’s classic sports car will be on-site. Corvette enthusiasm is contagious, with participation in autocross, dyno testing, burnouts, and the parade through historic downtown Carlisle. In addition to the Corvette giveaway, the excitement continues with an incredible shopping experience, including a huge swap meet with a wide variety of vendors, an all-Corvette car corral, Manufacturers Midway and Installation Alley.

WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS

•American Flag Tribute Display – 158 Corvettes create this American Flag Mosaic. A Portion of the Proceeds Benefits Homes For Our Troops. The official ceremony starts Friday at 1pm and the display will conclude at 3:30pm.

•50th Anniversary of Le Mans Corvette Display – 2011 Tribute Corvette Vin#0001 and 1960 #3 Cunningham Corvette on display all weekend along with the 1960 #3 Le Mans Corvette Historic Return Documentary Trailer for the documentary by Michael Brown due to be released Fall 2010. (View Trailer)

•Downtown Carlisle Corvette Parade Award Ceremony – Carlisle Borough awards proclamation and Mayor’s Key to the City to John Fitch, Legendary Corvette Race Car Driver and surviving driver of the 1960 #3 Cunningham Corvette that raced to win Corvettes first class win in 1960. Ceremony to begin downtown after the parade.
