Dan Kruse Classics has wrapped up a record breaking car auction in Houston on November 24. The one day sale featured 177 cars and was held in conjunction with the 53rd annual O’Reilly Auto Parts AutoRama event in the George R. Brown Convention Center. The top selling vehicle was a 1957 Jaguar XK140 Roadster, selling for 75,600, plus the buyer’s premium. Total sales hit $1.46 million with a 50 percent sales rate.

The event opened with standing room only as auctioneer Dan Kruse got the auction rolling and the vigorous bidding began. A total of 140 people registered to bid on the vehicles presented, a 2 ½ percent increase from last year.

“When we came on board in 2011 to hold this auction, we knew it had the potential to be more than a one day sale,” stated Dan Kruse, president of Dan Kruse Classics. “Not only did we have an increase in the number of registered bidders this year, we also saw an increase in attendance and consignments. Houston and the surrounding areas are ripe for car collectors and our results prove this. We anticipate the 2013 auction to be a two day sale.”

Other top selling cars were: a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible selling for $54,000, a 1961 Chevrolet Impala Bubble Top, also selling for $54,000, a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air selling for $47,520 and a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe selling for $46,440.
