More than 150 of the finest European vintage collectibles and American classics will be auctioned

EG Auctions will sell more than 150 of the most beautifully-kept European vintage cars, American classics, hot rods, resto-mods and muscle cars during the 29th Annual Dana Point Concours d’Elegance, June 24-26, at the prestigious St. Regis Monarch Beach in Dana Point, Calif.  The three-day auction is one of many activities that will take place during the weekend celebration of automotive elegance.

“Southern California is the perfect setting for a sophisticated, vintage automobile auction because it’s one of the major hubs for cool classics and hot muscle cars,” said David Berg, managing partner of EG Auctions.  “Enthusiasts will be thrilled at the opportunity to not only see hundreds of Concours-ready cars during the weekend, but also have the chance purchase one themselves.  Our auction offers only the best examples of European and American marques.”

Starting Friday at 4 p.m. PDT, bidders can preview the elite collection of European and American vehicles that will cross the block during the weekend.  Later that evening, the auction will kick-off at 7 p.m.  On Saturday, June 25, and Sunday, June 26, viewing is scheduled for 8 a.m. and the auction will start at 10 a.m.

“We’re offering an exclusive number of vehicles at the Dana Point Vintage Automobile Auction that will feature some of the best examples of well-maintained and skillfully restored cars currently available on the market,” noted Berg.  “We’re car enthusiasts just like our bidders.  We understand what collectors want when they purchase an attractive and stylish vintage automobile.  That’s why we set up our auction format to fit the tastes of every type of automotive enthusiast.”

The inaugural Dana Point Vintage Automobile Auction will offer a green on beige 1948 Packard 2211 with a 288 cid straight eight and a manual three-speed column shift transmission.  This was the first year Packard presented its postwar body style to the public, beating competitors Cadillac and Chrysler to the market.  The ‘48 Packard comes fully restored by its owner.

To fit the laid back So Cal atmosphere, a fully restored, numbers-matching 1953 Mercury Monterey Woodie Wagon will be sold to the highest bidder.  One of the best examples of a Tin Woodie in the U.S., the ‘53 Woodie will transport the owner back to the days of surf, sun and sand.  The car features a flathead 255 cid motor with a three-speed Merc-o-Matic transmission.  This Woodie not only comes with genuine wood on the exterior panels, but 1953 was the last year that vehicles were manufactured with that material.  A rare third seat and power steering offer the new owner an enjoyable cruise.  Factory AM radio and clock are also available in the Woodie.

Nicknamed the “golden years,” the 1950s saw a change in the automotive industry as many veterans came home with money in their pockets, ready to purchase a new car.  Two cars that represent the era are a striking red 1956 Chevy Full Custom and Alpine White 1958 Cadillac convertible.

The ‘56 Chevy is fully customized with a 350 ZZ4 crate motor and an automatic transmission.  Nothing was left untouched with more than $100,000 of work put into this ride.  A Dakota full digital dash, Tilt Ididit steering column, Kenwood stereo and CD system, as well as electric remote doors, windows and trunk, are among the many upgrades made to this classic Chevy.  The tan leather and suede interior match the German square weave two-tone carpet.

From a private collection comes a ‘58 Caddy with its factory original 365 cid V8 engine.  It comes standard with a four-speed hydraulic transmission, power steering, power brakes and factory air conditioning.  High gloss chrome adorns the inside of the Caddy and an Autotronic automatic dimmer switch sits on the dash.  Black and white leather seats complete the stylish interior.

“These ‘50s classics represent timeless automobiles produced by Detroit’s Big Three,” added Berg.  “Many of our bidders and consignors grew up in that generation and appreciate the vehicles that have survived through the years.  We’ll offer many examples of these cars during our inaugural auction.”

Built by Chevrolet between the ‘50s and ‘70s, the Chevy Bel Air was a popular choice for families of that time period.  EG Auctions will sell a fifth generation 1961 Bel Air from the notable Rick Hendricks Motors Sports Private Collection.  Built by the prominent Rick Hendricks race shop team, the Champagne Bel Air runs and drives like it just came off the assembly line.  The Bel Air underwent a full frame off restoration.  While the interior was left untouched, an updated 1964 409 cid engine and four-speed transmission can be found under the hood.  The car comes with 56,000 original miles on the odometer.

“From the sophisticated atmosphere, to the pristine Concours cars, the 29th Annual Dana Point Concours and inaugural Dana Point Vintage Automobile Auction will provide an unforgettable weekend,” concluded Berg.  “We look forward to celebrating the European and American automotive heritage with fellow enthusiasts.”
