Kirkland, WA – April 21, 2010 – The Eighth Annual Phil Smart Kirkland Concours d’Elegance is the Pacific Northwest’s premier concours event, showcasing more than 100 of the world’s most beautiful and rare examples of “rolling art” in a world-class setting on the shores of Lake Washington at Carillon Point. All proceeds will benefit the uncompensated care funds for children at Evergreen Hospital and Seattle Children’s Hospital to help prevent, treat and eliminate pediatric disease.

The 2010 Kirkland Concours d’Elegance offers an interactive and inviting atmosphere for car enthusiasts of all kinds. On Sunday, September 12, the picturesque shores of Lake Washington will feature some of the world’s finest vintage automobiles, motorcycles and wooden boats handpicked to be on display for the event.

This year will honor Carroll Shelby for his 50 years of dedication and achievements in automotive design and racing. This year’s featured class “Screamers Powered by Ford” will highlight some of his icons. The event will also be showcasing a special presentation of a private Seattle collection and a special variety display of unique and important vehicles.

During the event, the cars will be judged and recognized in 18 various categories including rarity, historical significance, quality of restoration, presence and elegance.

One award is judged and presented by “Junior Judges,” a group of twelve specially selected children – 10 from the Lake Washington School District, one is a patient from Evergreen Hospital and one patient from Seattle Children’s Hospital. The children range in age from 10-13 years old. These Junior Judges work together to select their favorite automobile while also learning about automotive history, the restoration process and the mechanics of a non-profit event. Concluding the event will be the traditional “Circle of Champions” to honor the most deserving vehicles in each class.

This annual car enthusiast event will be held at Carillon Point and is open to the public. Accommodations and catering will be provided by the Woodmark Hotel, Yacht Club & Spa. Adult tickets are $25; Youth tickets (ages 7-17) are $10 and entrance for children 7 and under are free.
