TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (March 2007) – Festival-goers will be able to take a trip down memory lane, side-by-side with vintage vehicles like a ’57 Thunderbird, a ’36 Chevy pickup or a ’49 Harley-Davidson. The Hagerty Family Car Show will feature collector cars, trucks and motorcycles from around the Midwest on July 8 near Lay Park off the picturesque Boardman River on Union and Sixth Streets in Traverse City.
Last year’s event brought in 230 examples of fine vintage metal and an estimated crowd of 3,000 attendees eyeing decades of automotive heritage. Says Event Coordinator Bob DeKorne: “Many folks last year commented about how much they enjoyed the diversity – cars, trucks, motorcycles, lowriders, tuners and more.”
There are three judging classes – Class Judging: traditional classes such as Best Ford, Chevy, pickup; Special Awards: presented and chosen by local businesses; and Highest Honor Awards: Queen’s Choice, chosen by the Cherry Festival Queen, and the Hagerty Award chosen by Hagerty. A Motorcycle Division is planned as well.
A cruise-in will take place the evening of Saturday, July 7. Participants will enjoy a cruise around downtown and a possible cruise destination to enjoy an evening of festive entertainment before the big event.
“The 2007 event will offer car collectors more room, more Class awards, even more random prizes than last year. Our visitors will enjoy a safe, family friendly venue, with cool kids’ activities and a wide variety of specialty vehicles – all within walking distance of the Cherry Festival stage and the amusement rides,” says DeKorne.

Antique, stock and modified classes of automobiles are invited to participate. Pre-registration is required and starts at 8 a.m. Advance registration fee is $12 or $15 at the show.
