Imagine the possibilities when the magnificent automobiles that the Kirkland Concours is known for are combined with the vast LeMay collection. Beginning September 2012, the Kirkland Concours d’Elegance will take place on the showfield at LeMay—America’s Car Museum showfield. Following a transition period, LeMay is to become the official steward of the long-running concours, and will eventually take over all management responsibilities.

LeMay President and CEO David Madeira wrote in an email this weekend,

As you know, when we began to develop the Museum plans we determined that an important aspect of sustainability will be to bring numerous and large events to the Museum. As part of the plan we created a show field to attract car shows, motorcycle events, concours, dealer events, music festivals, and drive in theatres. As we developed our plans we indicated that we would create “signature” events for the Museum such as an ongoing auction and regular events of the nature just described.

I’m happy to inform you that we have secured a major signature event for the Museum beginning next September 2012 as, last weekend, I secured an agreement with the Board of the Kirkland Concours d’Elegance to transfer the legal entity under the auspices of LeMay—America’s Car Museum and move the Concours to the Museum. The Board has agreed to remain on to help us with transition, as the Founding Committee, to guide us in the production of the Concours, help us plan the event and classes to be exhibited, and help us retain sponsors, judges and attract the highest quality of collector vehicles for display.

Stay tuned, and watch the Kirkland Concours d’Elegance and LeMay for updates.
