Leake Auction Company just completed their Oklahoma City auction, racking up $4.2 million in sales and selling 70 percent of the cars. The auction was held in the Cox Pavilion at the OKC Fairgrounds, February 17-18. The top selling car was a 1968 Shelby GT500, selling for $165,000.
Other top selling cars were: 1958 Cadillac Eldorado selling for $80,000, a 1966 Plymouth Satellite Hemi selling for $70,000 and a 1970 Hemi Cuda selling for $70,000.
A record-setting crowd of car enthusiasts lined up each day to view a vast array of cars including Cadillacs, Corvettes, Camaros, Street Rods, Mustangs and other vintage, collector, muscle, high-performance and specialty vehicles. 284 vehicles were offered and a total of 198 vehicles were sold during the two-day auction.
“This was a great way to kick off our 40th anniversary,” said Richard Sevenoaks, president of Leake Auction Company. “The Oklahoma City sale shows that the overall condition of the collector car market is very strong. We keep the enthusiasm for the hobby alive by bringing a cross-section of vehicles suitable to everyone’s budget. Oklahoma City has been a good market for collector cars and we are thrilled to be a part of it.”
