As it did (with the Randy Williams Super Duty Pontiac Collection) at the St. Charles Musclecar Auction this past October, Mecum Auctions will once again be featuring vehicles from the estate of a prominent collector. This time around, 49 cars from the George “Butch” Saunders Collection will be offered at Mecum High Performance Auction in Kissimmee Florida,” January 25-27, 2007.

“Bringing the Butch Saunders Collection from North Carolina to our Kissimmee High Performance Auction was a great honor for us, said Dana Mecum, President of Mecum Auctions. “We are very proud to be offering such a large and unique collection to our bidders.”

Though he primarily collected high performance Chevrolets from the 1950s and ‘60s, Mr. Saunders was an avid car enthusiast who also appreciated other makes from that era. He was a very active collector, buying and selling cars at a spirited pace and was a familiar fixture at car events all over the United States. In addition to the large number of Chevies, the collection also includes desirable examples from other marques.

Vehicles of particular note are a fuel-injected 1957 Chevy 210 in the rare 2-door hardtop bodystyle, an air-conditioned 1958 348 3×2 Impala convertible, a 1961 Impala SS 409 4-speed convertible, an air-conditioned 1965 Impala SS 409 and a black, fuel-injected 1957 Bel Air convertible. All cars in the Butch Saunders collection will be sold without reserve, with the exception of the turbocharged 1989 20th Anniversary/Indy Pace Car Trans Am, so these vehicles will be finding new homes at the Kissimmee auction.
