On the occasion of the first Press day of the 2006 Paris Motorshow, Frederic Saint-Geours and the Peugeot Sport staff have announced the involvement of the brand new 908 in the Le Mans Series.

Today at 11am, in front of numerous journalists from abroad, the “Automobiles Peugeot” Managing Director has launched the very expected Prototype, as he announced during the last 24 Hours of Le Mans. The whole Peugeot Sport team was present, including Peugeot Sport Director Michel Barge, and Serge Saulnier, the newly appointed Peugeot Sport Manager. This latter can now be considered as a Le Mans Series regular since he was the team manager of Swiss Spirit’s team which ranked fourth overall, after only one season.

Thus, Mr Saint-Geours has made official the French manufacturer’s will to involve themselves in a large-scale endurance programme. In addition to their participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2007, they will enter the 908 for the whole Le Mans Series season.

It is to be noticed that the Prototype is a closed one, meeting the prescriptions issued by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest on last 16 June.

Further to the sporting attraction, the enthusiastic involvement of Peugeot in the Le Mans Series is the symbol of the series improvement. We can probably expect other good news. But more to come… However the appearance of the Peugeot 908 among the Le Mans Series competitors is the sign of a lively season.
