A select field of 118 exclusive vintage show cars, some more than 100 years old, has been finalized for the inaugural Pinehurst Concours d’Elegance at historic Pinehurst Resort, with entrants from as far away as California, Washington state and Mexico.

The field of rare autos will be staged this weekend on the emerald green fairways of one of the world’s most iconic golf resorts, and judged by an all-star team of 25 judges in 11 competition classes. Meanwhile, cars from legendary NASCAR racing team and car manufacturer Holman-Moody will be displayed in a non-judged category.

The number of show cars participating in the inaugural event on Sunday, May 5 honors the 118 years of Pinehurst Resort, founded in 1895 by the soda fountain magnate James Walker Tufts.

“We have assembled an impressive collection of vintage cars by any concours standard,” said Jay Howard, the event’s executive director. “Fans will get an up-close look at all the hard work and dedication the collectors pursue in restoring and maintaining the authenticity of these vintage autos at one of the world’s premier resort destinations.”

“The overall diversity and quality of the cars selected for the Pinehurst Concours d’Elegance will leave our patrons with the feeling that this event has been going on for many years and quietly hidden away in these beautiful surroundings,” added Paul Ianuario, the chief judge of the competition. “It is uncommon to have cars of this caliber at an inaugural event.”

The 11 judged classes include Brass Era, Production Prewar, Production Postwar, Corvette, Sports & GT Cars: Small Bore, Sports & GT Cars: Large Bore, American and European Classics, Preservation Cars, American Muscle Cars, Porsche and Race Cars.

General admission tickets for the Pinehurst Concours are now on sale at an introductory price of $40. VIP packages are also available to the May 5 competition. See www.pinehurstconcours.com for details, scheduling and ticketing information, or call 910-973-6594.
