AUBURN, INDIANA (June 15, 2009) – Worldwide Auctioneers announced today that an exceptional 1936 Delahaye 135 Competition Disappearing Top Convertible by famed streamlined coachbuilder Figoni & Falashi will headline the line- up of exclusive consignments for its second The Auburn Auction on September 5th.

Lauded by Club Delahaye archivists as “one of the most elegant creations of Joseph Figoni and one of the most important Delahaye cars”, triumphantly “correct in all aspects”, this rare and beautiful automobile has won numerous Best of Show Concours Awards and is a 100 point CCCA Premier Award Winner. “There can be few more fitting automobiles to headline The Auburn Auction, with its declared objective of bringing the great cars back to the Classic Car Capital of the world”, said Rod Egan, Managing Partner and Chief Auctioneer. “Here is simply one of the finest automobiles in existence”.

The Delahaye will join an illustrious list of early consignments which include a 1959 Talbot Lago America Coupe, the very last Talbot Lago built, a venerable 1937 Cord 812 SC Phaeton, formerly owned by the founder of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club, an exciting collection of Cadillacs from the Sterling McCall Museum, all offered at no reserve and a stately 1933 Auburn 8-101A Convertible Cabriolet.

The Auburn Auction takes place at Worldwide Auctioneers US Headquarters in Auburn, Indiana, on Saturday September 5th, as the town coincidentally plays host to the famous Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival that same Labor Day Weekend. “We look forward to building on the success of our inaugural 2008 sale, when a Ferrari 410 Super America made history, selling for a record $2.53 million”, said John Kruse, Managing Partner. “Auburn has a proud motoring heritage and we are honored to be welcoming the serious collectors back”.
