RM Auctions, the world’s largest collector car auction house, is delighted to announce that it has selected the Salon Privé luxury car show and Concours d’Elegance at Syon Park, as the venue for its third annual European sale.

Themed ‘Quintessentially English’ and scheduled for 23rd June, 2011, the new RM sale is set to become a regular fixture on the company’s global events calendar, catering specifically for collectors with an affinity for British marques.

Max Girardo, Managing Director, RM Europe says, “Over the past four years, RM has firmly placed its stamp on the UK auction scene with our unique style, quality offerings and unsurpassed client experience. Held in the middle of London’s summer events season, our new sale at Salon Privé will complement our already well-established Autumn Battersea sale by offering a fresh, new approach – it will be smaller in size and focus exclusively on British automobiles, along with a select series of motorcycles.

“We are excited to partner with Salon Privé for this new event. The stunning Syon Park surroundings alongside the Salon Privé garden party setting provide the perfect backdrop for the sale’s ‘Quintessentially English’ theme and relaxed, summer vibe,” Girardo adds.

Andrew Bagley, Salon Privé co-founder, comments: “This is another tremendous step forward for Salon Privé, which, like RM Auctions, is growing rapidly.  RM is a great partner for Salon Privé – it seems fitting that a company known for selling some of the world’s finest automobiles will now hold its newest European auction at an event also known for showing the best of modern and classic luxury and super cars.”

Leading early consignments for RM’s new sale at Salon Privé is a 1929 Bentley Speed Six “Le Mans” VDP Tourer, chassis no. FA 2518. A faithful copy of the 1930 No 3 Speed Six Le Mans team car, FA 2518 was created some 38 years ago on a 1929 ‘Big Six’ chassis using an actual 1930 Speed Six engine. The car is superbly executed with its Le Mans petrol tank, gravel guards, dual rear brakes and Vanden Plas style bodywork. This Speed Six was treated to a recent restoration by a UK based specialist with every moving part replaced or re-built during the restoration. (Estimate: £450,000 – £550,000). It will lead an exciting series of blue-chip British automotive marques slated for the single-day sale.

RM Auctions is currently inviting quality consignments for the new summer sale.
