That big thud you just heard was RM Sotheby’s dropping one very big car — the first Shelby Cobra ever built, and Carroll Shelby’s personal car — into their 2016 Monterey Auction lineup. The August 19-20 sale is at the Portola Hotel & Spa in downtown Monterey, CA.
Shelby owned the car from new, and it never left his care.
RM Sotheby’s is also offering Shelby’s personal 1965 Shelby Cobra 427, CSX 3178.
