RM Auctions continued its successful sales run in Monterey Friday night as a rare 1948 Tucker 48 Sedan, selling for $1,127,500, set a new world record for a Tucker. An important 1964 Shelby Cobra USRRC Roadster also attracted spirited bidding to break the magic million-dollar mark.

Lot 255: 1964 Shelby Cobra USRRC Roadster – $1,595,000

Lot 246: 1948 Tucker 48 Sedan – $1,127,500, nearly double its pre-sale estimate

Lot 260: 1979 Ferrari 512 BB/LM Competition Berlinetta – $880,000

Lot 238: 2003 Ferrari Enzo – $830,500

Lot 241: 1967 Shelby 427 Cobra – $715,000

In addition, a 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupe sold for $110,000, with proceeds benefiting the Double H Ranch, a non-profit organization based in New York State that provides specialized programs and year-round support for children and their families dealing with life-threatening illnesses. www.doublehranch.org.

RM continued its long-standing support of the Rotary Club of Monterey, with part proceeds from the sale of a $5,000 automotive artwork going to the organization, supplementing RM’s annual donation.

RM’s ‘Sports & Classics of Monterey’ auction concludes tomorrow, Saturday, August 14 at the Portola Hotel & Spa and Monterey Conference Center in Monterey, CA. In total, some 225 automobiles will cross the auction podium across the three days as part of the most significant auction offering ever presented on the Monterey Peninsula.
