I’ve had a glorious weekend with what are fast becoming my two favorite cars.
While the 1967 Alfa Romeo GTV and the 2003 Porsche 996 911 are are decades apart in construction, they offer many of the same driving rewards to an old-car enthusiast.
The Alfa is a tried-and-true front-engine, rear-wheel-drive design. The Porsche has a rear-engined, rear-wheel drive configuration that the company has perfected over the past 50 years. In some ways, they are polar opposites.

Yesterday, while hunting Craigslist for first-gen Ford Mustangs for ACC, I tripped over this twin-turbo 1964 Plymouth Valiant for sale.

Mecum Auctions is returning to the City of Roses for the second year in a row — and they’re bringing some special Shelby and muscle cars.
This year’s auction is on June 16-17 at the Portland Expo Center, just a short drive from SCM World Headquarters.
Last year Mecum sold 297 of 478 cars (62%), totaling $9,316,726.
A 1965 Shelby GT350 sold for $335,500 for the high sale. Mecum will no doubt look to improve those numbers this time around.

Although I am reveling in my momentary motoring splendor, such moments are few Read More
