Concours Corner: Pebble Beach Concours Canceled for 2020

Pebble Beach Concours Canceled for 2020

The 70th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will take place on August 15, 2021.

The 2020 Pebble Beach Concours is now canceled because of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

The cars and special classes recently selected for the 2020 Pebble Beach Concours will see the field in 2021.

“My heart goes out to all of the people who are involved in the Pebble Beach Concours and who are impacted by this decision,” said Concours Chairman Sandra Button. “Many of our entrants have been working on a special car for years, and this was to be their moment. Some of our overseas entrants were nearing the point of putting their cars on boats and planes, and their own travel arrangements have long been made. The same is true for many of our international cadre of judges.”

The 2021 Pebble Beach Concours will feature these special classes, which were originally scheduled for the 2020 event:

A display of past Best of Show winners along the edge of Stillwater Cove.

Pininfarina coachwork.

Porsche 917.

Talbot-Lago Grand Sport.

Miller racing.

Iso.

Early Electrics.

The Carrera Panamericana.

Forest Grove Concours Postponed until 2021

The 48th Annual Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance, originally scheduled for July 19, 2020, will now happen on July 18, 2021.

The concours will carry over the featured classes planned for 2021.

“With so much uncertainty right now about the coronavirus situation and when people will be able to gather again safely, the Steering Committee of the Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event, scheduled for Sunday, July 19,” said Ken Cunningham, concours chairman. “We will refocus our energies toward planning for the next event in July 2021. This is a tough decision, but we do not want to compromise the safety of entrants, judges, spectators, volunteers, or vendors. The Concours is made possible by collector car owners, Rotary Club volunteers, and sponsors from the community, and many of these supporters are focused on staying safe and keeping their businesses running during this crisis.  The Forest Grove Concours is a celebration of automobiles, and we feel July will be too soon to gather under the trees at Pacific University in large numbers.”
