Art Director Dave Tomaro writes, “In this month’s case, readers preferred cover #1, the 1958 Ferrari TdF, which was a prime contender, both as a beautiful car and a significant sale. It is what might be considered a traditional SCM cover. However, we do like to break the mold from time to time. We have a significant contingent of younger collectors who are starting to make their voices — and dollars — heard on cars that made an impression on them in the 1980s, ’90s and early 2000s. As such, cover #2, the 2008 Koenigsegg CCXR, met the challenge. It looks great, is moving up in the market, falls in a sweet spot for younger buyers, and isn’t so stratospherically expensive as to be solely aspirational.”
