May 2016 Cover Poll

Our Art Director, David Tomaro, has created three possible cover concepts, and we’d like to know which one is your favorite. It should all take less than a minute, and your answers help determine the content of our magazine. Voting ends Friday, March 11, at Midnight PST. If you have any additional thoughts about SCM, regarding either the print magazine or our electronic newsletter, please post them in the comments section below.

  1. It’s nice to see the Testerosa finally getting the respect they deserve. Beautiful cars, fun to drive. Delicate and precise handling. Of course the Porsche and Jag are both wonderful but again this Ferrari’s deserve recognition

  2. I thoroughly enjoy your magazine from cover to cover. I like the breadth of coverage and especially enjoy hearing from collectors like Mr Seinfeld, Mr Arutonoff, and other voices as well as the argy bargy about preservation vs restoration. Especially enjoy Thor Thorsen’s analysis.

  3. Regarding the Tiptronic 911 vs Cayenne. No, the 911 Tiptronic turbo in not just a Cayenne. The 911 turbo is lighter, has at least 25 mph higher top speed, is lower to the ground, weighs almost a ton less, has far fewer electrical problems, has fewer half shaft problems, does not have as bad of a coolant line problem, and handles much, much better than the Cayenne. I have a manual transmission on my 911 Turbo S, and a GT3 for the race track.

    1. A 911 is the car of the people. Anyone that like sports cars know this.
      4 speed, 5 speed, tip, 6 speed, 7 speed, PDK , turbo, non turbo, RS, its has all the bases covered nothing even comes close.

  6. The other two are, in essence, operator controlled robots. The Jaguar is a sports car. Of course, I’m an old guy so you’d expect me to say this.

  7. Could be me, but I think the poll is flawed: I’m not attending any of the 5 events listed, but could not leave it blank, as a prompt demanded I answer the question.

  8. The Porsche is unattainable to most, the TR is an aftermarket convertible, the Jaguar is classic and obtainable. Easy choice!

  9. In 1970 in fell in love with a silver XK140 FHC. In 1982 I pulled a white XK140 FHC/SE out of a barn. Yes I am still in love and married.

  10. Survey should allow voting, even if not attending any of the events listed. Appears to me that my vote doesn’t “register” for this reason.

  11. Disappointed in both SCM’s and ACC’s coverage of the Scottsdale auctions. SCM’s new issue covered virtually no American cars. And ACC, which just came yesterday, was pretty thin in coverage. SCM needs to continue to cover American cars as ACC is thinner and only comes every other month..

  12. I’ve owned six 911’s in the last 40 years. My last and current 911 is a 1992 964 C2 Cabriolet, with a Tiptronic transmission. Perfect for two elderly drivers in Sun City West, AZ

  13. It’s hard to pick a cover for the April 2016 issue of SCM. I had selected cover #3 the 1955 Jaguar XK140 FHC. A beautiful design and still very pure like the XK120. It seems the XK150 lost a lot of the original elements that were out of proportion to the purity of the 120 and 140. I haven’t seen a classic Jaguar on the cover and it deserves the space. The other two covers are beautiful and I wonder if the Ferrari TR was car built for the head of Fiat and if that was the last special one they had created since the 500 Superfast? The Porsche 918 is a knockout and I would love to see it on future covers as this is Porsche standout. I would love to see articles on the Citroen DS Series and on the Citroen SM and also articles on the Big Healey like the 100-4, 100-6 and the 3000.

  15. Your survey is flawed. I can’t proceed, because I did not answer question #1. But, I am not going to any of the five, and there is no “none of the above” answer.

  16. Definitely not. Why comment on SUV’s in Sports Car Market ?
    A 911 is a sports car that is joy to drive, the Cayenne is just a smart people mover.

  17. 54% voted for the Jag XK 140 MC FHC yet you chose the Testarossa Spyder for the SCM cover even though it only garnered 16% of the vote. If you’re going to ignore the poll results and pick what you want, why have the poll?

  18. Maybe I’m missing something. But why have your readers vote on which cover car they prefer if the cover editor makes that decision? SCM can see our preferences by the voting. By disregarding our favorites, you must realize we are feeling irrelevant & ignored. Otherwise, we probably love you guys!
