As our launch date of August 14 draws closer, some of the puzzle pieces of our trip are coming together. Please join us for some or all of it. At the moment, it appears the SCM contingent will include our 1972 Mercedes 250C, along with my son Bradley’s recently acquired 1982 Corvette Collector’s Edition. It’s a 2,000-mile round trip. Some might think that taking 40- and 50-year-old cars on this journey is kind of ridiculous. But I was told the same thing when I announced I was creating a market letter for Alfa Romeos 35 years ago. Getting these cars ready […]

Agree, Keith! I live in Victoria, BC. In early June, our niece was getting married in Saskatoon, SK. An opportunity for me to drive our 1988 Porsche 928S4 5spd. Approximately 20hrs of driving (Victoria-Vancouver-Kamloops-Jasper-Rocky Mountain House-Red Deer-Saskatoon) over three days, weekend wedding fun, and then 20hrs over three days back to Victoria. Traveled out with my son (age 28) and back with my wife. Over 2200mi/3500km and the car was fabulous – fast, fun, safe and comfortable (BTW, the cruise control in the car was really good, barely noticeable and kept the car at speed up and down major mountain roads).
Yes, drive them, it’s fun, and that’s why we have them! cheers

I imagine coming from Portlanf, Highway 5 will be your main route down here. At what point will you venture off of 5 towards Monterey, and what will your route be from there. Do you plan to drive straight through? If not, what town will be your halfway point?

Keith – Looking forward to MCW again – You got me started with this insantity by an old, beat up issue of SCM at a car wash probably 15 years ago. Been going to MCW and the Reunion since ’16. If I run into you (not in cars) would love to say thanks personally. Best to you, your personal journey has been inspiring.

That blue Mercedes is still a real looker! I hope you have an enjoyable trip with it.
