The latest entry into the look-at-me parade; fenders and hood pay tribute to Chevy pickups of the not-too-immediate past; cool clamshell automatic top/tonneau mechanism; even cooler interior design.
Drives like a bad 40-year-old-truck (Guys—you went too far with this tribute thing); claustrophobic cockpit; truck bed that makes a Lincoln Blackwood’s look versatile; for three grand more you can have a new ‘Vette; how long ‘till that look-at-me thing gets old?
Another example of a major manufacturer looking for a way to connect with middle-aged, would-be car guys. Now you can head to your local GM store for a hot-rod truck, another “instant classic” without the hassles, or the cachet, of the real deal. If it drove better or had a usable bed there’d be something here, but as it sits the SSR is just the thing to trade in your Prowler or 2002 Thunderbird for.
