Tulsa, OK (March 26, 2009) – The Dan Kruse-Leake Collector Car Show & Auction racked up $1.8m in total sales during its one-day 2009 auction, held March 21 in San Antonio’s Alamodome. Car enthusiasts throughout Texas attended the auction.

The San Antonio auction featured 220 cars across the auction block, including Corvettes, Camaros, Cudas, Shelbys, Thunderbirds, Mustangs, Mopars and other vintage, collector, muscle and specialty vehicles.

“This was our first auction in San Antonio and it was a success, we were very pleased” said Richard Sevenoaks, president of Leake Auction Company. “We had a large crowd all day that was capped with competitive bidding. With total bids exceeding $4.8 million it shows that San Antonio came out to support our auction. We are definitely looking forward to coming back to San Antonio in 2010.”

This year’s top selling vehicle was a 1967 Shelby GT500 which sold for $151,200. Equipped with a 428-ci engine and a 4-speed manual transmission, this Shelby was one of only 455 ever built with this paint and trim code. This was the first time it has been for sale on the open market.

A 1955 Mercury Montclair Sun Valley sold for $69,660. The Mercury was restored from the ground up with a complete rebuild of the original engine and transmission. This car also features a 292-ci V8 engine, power steering and power brakes.

All of the auction’s results are available online at www.leakecar.com.

Car enthusiasts who were not successful in winning the bid in San Antonio can bid on other collector cars at the Leake Collector Car Show & Auction in Tulsa. The Tulsa show will be held June 12-14 in the QuikTrip Center at Tulsa’s Expo Square.
