It is with regret that SCM reports American racing legend Phil Hill died today, August 28, 2008, at age 81.

In 1961, Hill became America’s first Formula One World Champion, taking the honor at the wheel of a Ferrari. Added to three victories at Le Mans, he cemented his place in motorsport history, and was forever an ambassador of the sport, and of automobile collecting.

SCM sends its condolences to his wife, Alma, and to the entire Hill family.
