The works of Denis Sire on the theme of the Le Mans 24 Hours associating the image of divine creatures, whose curves echo those of the racing cars they accompany, were deemed a great
success at last July’s Le Mans Classic, a retrospective of the great French race.
Thus the Artist has decided to release reproductions of these paintings in a highly limited edition. Each of these 24 scenes by Dennis Sire of views from the 24 Hour race will be printed 10 times onto canvases which will then be stretched over a wooden frame. Each edition will of course be signed and numbered by the artist.
This series of paintings celebrating the golden age of motor racing and the glorious hours spent on the Le Mans track is a present which will appeal just as much to people passionate about endurance racing as to those who simply appreciate the beauty of these iconic cars.

The work of Denis Sire, since his first pictures were published in 1976, has been a homage to the beauty of cars, in particular those of the sixties and seventies. Jaguar Type D, Cobra Daytona, Ford GT40, Ferrari 330 P4, Matra and
many more. These are the names which we all associate with the golden age of endurance racing, the models which are the attraction of the now un-missable Le Mans Classic, and are captured at the height of action on Denis Sire’s canvases.
His story, rich with works with equally evocative French “underground” magazines such as Métal Hurlant and l’Echo des Savanes, also explains the presence of divine creatures next to these dreamcars. The pencil is well used and the intense colours also reflect the world of cartoons. The work of Denis Sire recalls the American school in the forties for whom: the line is at the service of the picture, the colour at the service of the line.
Denis Sire is passionate about endurance racing. Could one doubt this, faced by the enthusiasm depicted by every
one of his canvases and the amazing impression of speed which is drawn from them? Automobile art can beautify
the curves of the bodywork, but rare are works of the full action that can reproduce this. Alone you could miss the
roar of a V12, yet these works will resonate in the heads of every amateur confronted by one of these canvases.
