The first-ever China Classic Car Rally from Hong Kong to Beijing is set to get underway March 27, 2007, and conclude on April 11, In the intervening 15 days and 2,500 miles, competitors will drive through several historic Chinese provinces on the tour of a lifetime.
The Rally retraces the route of legendary Hong Kong-Beijing Rallies undertaken five times before Hong Kong’s return to the Chinese motherland ten years ago. The new rally will be different though; while in the 1980s and ’90s the fastest pilot won the race, in 2007 the award will be given to the one driving the most reliable car.
The event will be hosted by an international team of organisers and sponsors, also administrating one of the world’s best Classic Car websites, in both Hong Kong and Beijing. The presenters hope to make the Hong Kong-Beijing Rally a new Classic among the international Classic Car events.
Already confirmed for the race are several teams from around the world, representing an eclectic mix of vintage cars, including a 1954 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith, a Mercedes-Benz 190SL, a 1941 Buick convertible, a Ferrari 365 GTC/4, an Austin-Healey 3000, and several others.
Space on this historic event is limited, but there is still room for another 20 to 30 cars. We urge you to take action soon if you plan to race.
