Blenheim, Ontario – May 27, 2010 — RM Auctions, the world’s largest auction house for quality automobiles, will drop the hammer on an exceptional line-up of Corvettes next month as part of its highly-anticipated Classic Muscle & Modern Performance sale, June 19 in San Diego, CA.

Spanning five generations of Corvette production (C1 – C5), the auction will feature 26 different examples, the vast majority from a private Southern California collector. Ranging from a terrific first-generation 1954 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster, to a fully-equipped, low-mileage 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster, all lots will be offered ‘without reserve.’

Confirming the exceptional pedigree of the Corvettes on offer, Mike Vietro, a 30-year veteran in the industry and noted Corvette specialist, comments, “this dispersal of Corvettes is in large part the culmination of 25 years of collecting by a man who acquired the best when he could find the best. I’m very excited about this collection of GM’s rarest cars offered in one place, on one day.”

Headlining the exciting line-up of ‘Vettes slated to cross the block are two examples of the iconic and tremendously sought-after L88 – a rare, numbers matching ’69 L88 Coupe, one of the last L88s built and the only ’69 model produced with the Monza Red / Saddle leather color combination; and a special order ’69 L88 Coupe ‘Automatically Yours’, named in reference to its rare powertrain. Drag raced on the East Coast by Bard Chevrolet, ‘Automatically Yours’ is one of only 17 with automatic transmission and considered one of the finest L88s in existence.

Other notable entries for the sale include a series of 1967 tri-power 435s – the pinnacle of collectors choice, through to the end of the tri-power era with a 6,000 original mile 1969 435 convertible. The offering also includes a very rare, twin-turbo ’89 Callaway Convertible with B2K option, one of only 69 examples built and one of only 10 with turbo-hydromatic and just 1,055 miles from new.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of 1960 Corvettes, the auction line-up also includes a NCRS multiple-award-winning 1960 Chevrolet Corvette 283 / 290 Fuel-Injected Roadster.

“It’s a privilege for RM to be the auction house of choice in the sale of this outstanding assemblage of cars, which combine stunning performance with everyday drivability,” adds Ian Kelleher, President and COO, RM Auctions.

“Never before has a group of such select examples been assembled for an auction of this kind. We look forward to welcoming discerning collectors to San Diego for the sale which promises an exclusive range of ownership opportunities.”

In addition to the Corvettes, RM’s Classic Muscle & Modern Performance sale will drop the hammer on some 27 Pontiacs, seven Chevelles, six Mustangs, five Oldsmobile 442 Convertibles, and three Camaro Z/28s, along with an impressive assortment of virtually brand new modern performance vehicles, including late-model AMG Mercedes-Benz, M-Power BMWs, and a Ford GT. Of the 100 cars slated for the auction block, the vast majority are being offered directly from a private Southern California collection, which is considered one of America’s premier muscle car collections.
