Westport, CT, September 15, 2008 — More than 190 vehicles from the early 1900s to today have been entered by owners and drivers from across the nation in next weekend’s Fairfield County Concours d’Elegance presented by Porsche. On September 20 and 21, the established event in its fifth year is scheduled to attract thousands of visitors to the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport, Connecticut.
Saturday, September 20, features the Nutmeg Tour for Autism, with approximately 50 vintage automobiles taking a 50-mile tour through Fairfield, Southport, and Westport. At each of the several stops, spectators will be able to get up close and personal with these magnificent machines and their drivers.
The second event day is all about the vehicles on display. The field opens on Sunday, September 21, at 10 am. Over 140 cars and motorcycles will be arranged by year, with the oldest ones parked closest to the entrance. The event will also offer guided field walks where experts take the visitors back to the time surrounding each model on display.
A significant selection of Ferraris will be presented in a special judging class representing 60 years of cars graced by the Prancing Horse. The Cars of ’58 exhibit displays Chevys, Dodges, Lincolns, Imperials, and many more American brands from that watershed of automotive design 50 years ago. The Preservation Vehicles class honors these cars and the stories they tell. The Classic Car Club of America™ class features one of the nation’s premier collector car clubs. In addition, this year’s show also highlights three special exhibits; former show winners from the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, 60 Years of Motor Racing at Watkins Glen, and an especially delightful “Artful Dodgers” class.
