AUBURN, WASHINGTON (April 24, 2009) – La Dolce Vita Automobili at Black Horse announced today that automotive aficionado Larry Crane will join the event as guest emcee. Co-Founder Kerry McMullen notes, “Larry Crane has incredible car knowledge related to technical specifications and provenance and he’s a great storyteller. He’s highly respected as both an automotive historian and journalist and we’re thrilled to have him emcee our Monterey Car Week event at Black Horse”.

Crane’s experience with sports cars and exotics on and off the track spans more than 30 years. As a journalist, he designed and edited Steve Earle’s Vintage Racer magazine and has written hundreds of feature articles and created art layouts for Road & Track, Motor Trend and Automobile magazines. David E. Davis reflects, “Larry’s work in Automobile magazine always had a pulse and a temperature you could feel and the work was always identifiable as Larry’s. The energy and automotive passion could have been nobody else’s”. Crane also has an artistic side. As artist and designer, he has painted five of the famed Monterey Historic Automobile Races posters. As driver and passionate enthusiast, Crane has participated in a great many automotive events around the world including the Mille Miglia Storica in Italy.

Most recently, Crane served as editor of AUTO Aficionado magazine, focused on “collector cars, new and old” including rallies, historic car races, tours, auctions and concours events. He currently contributes to Italian and French car enthusiast web site Veloce Today as West Coast Editor where his “A Car Life” weekly features have become an instant success. “Larry Crane is to Veloce Today what I believe Peter Egan was to Road & Track”, comments Publisher Pete Vack.

Additionally, Crane contributes to the automotive current events publication Auto Events magazine.
Crane comments, “I’m excited to emcee La Dolce Vita Automobili at Black Horse and share my experience and enthusiasm with the general public while taking in the great cars and scenery of the day. For me, it will be a bit of automotive euphoria”. Crane will share the emcee post with industry veteran Monte Patterson who has represented Ultimate Motor Works in Orlando, Florida for over ten years working with Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Bentley and other fine marques.

Patterson has emceed numerous events including the Cavallino Classic Car Sunday in Palm Beach, Florida’s Festivals of Speed in Orlando and St. Petersburg and many other events around the country. Patterson is a self-proclaimed car nut and has owned and collected everything from a 1916 Ford to fine examples of Ferrari’s Daytona and Lusso models. Patterson’s passion will contribute an additional level of energy that is sure to please the crowd.

Throughout the day, additional hand-picked design, restoration and technical experts will give commentary in their particular areas of expertise as it directly relates to various Italian car marques and models displayed on the greens of Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course. “I don’t believe that one or two people can possibly be experts in the vast array of cars that will be on display at this event. We’ll give entrants and spectators the opportunity to hear from a variety of knowledgeable individuals ranging from collectors and car club members to restoration experts and automotive manufacturer representatives who know these cars inside out and have worked with them for decades”, says event Co Founder Jerry Kaye.

La Dolce Vita Automobili at Black Horse is an exhibition of Italian and European cars on display for public admiration offering examples of vintage race cars, sports cars, exotics and supercars spanning decades of design and technology. On Friday, August 14, 2009 from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM at Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course, cars will be featured as art amidst a dramatic backdrop of lush greenery near the Pacific Ocean on Monterey Peninsula during the most significant week of the global collector car calendar.
