ATLANTA, October 5, 2005 – Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com, the trusted resource for new- and used-vehicle information, today announced the Porsche Cayenne/Cayenne S is a two-time 2006 model year winner of its annual Best Resale Value Awards. The Cayenne/Cayenne S was acknowledged as Kelley Blue Book’s Best Resale Value in the 2006 Sport Utility category and one of the Overall Top 10 vehicles for Best Resale Value in 2006.
Based on well-informed projections by Kelley Blue Book’s expert staff of market analysts that are encapsulated in the Kelley Blue Book Residual Value Guide, the awards honor vehicles that are expected to have the best resale value after five years of ownership. This value is a projection based on current vehicle data, market conditions for each vehicle, competition in the segment, expectations of the future economy and the combined experience of Kelley Blue Book’s team of market and pricing analysts. The awards are presented to the vehicle with the highest projected resale value in each of Kelley Blue Book’s nine vehicle categories. In addition, awards are presented to the Overall Top 10 leaders in projected resale value regardless of segment. Low-volume vehicles and vehicles with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of more than $60,000 are excluded from awards consideration.
“Long revered for its sports cars, Porsche has won additional respect in a very different arena with its Cayenne luxury sport utility vehicle,” said Jack R. Nerad, editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book. “It is a vehicle whose performance and handling are true to its essential Porsche-ness, while at the same time its off-road prowess is eye-opening.”
The Cayenne and Cayenne S have the soul that is part of every Porsche. They provide the room, the luxury and the safety features that a family demands for its four-wheel-drive adventures — whether they involve wilderness trails, inclement weather conditions or a weekend away with a boat in tow. At the same time, they offer the dynamic driving experience that Porsche’s enthusiast customers expect from a Porsche.
“We are thrilled the Cayenne and Cayenne S have captured these two very meaningful awards from Kelley Blue Book, an acknowledged and respected source for automotive resale values,” said Peter Schwarzenbauer, president and CEO of Porsche Cars North America. “We have positioned the Cayenne model line as the best on-road performing SUVs on the market that also have exceptional off-road capabilities. It is gratifying to us that these qualities have been recognized and valued by Kelley Blue Book and the marketplace.”
