*BLENHEIM, Ontario, Canada (June 13, 2005) *– Each year, RM Auctions organizes outstanding million dollar consignments at its annual Monterey Sports and Classic Car Auction, offering professional collectors a selection of the world’s rarest and most desirable automobiles. The 2005 event, scheduled for August 19-20 at the Portola Plaza Hotel in Monterey, CA, will also feature the North American debut of the exciting
*2006 Maybach 57 S*, which will be offered for bids with a portion of the proceeds being donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
The new 57 S model builds on the successful Maybach platform, making the world’s finest super-luxury sedan feel even more like a sports car. In addition to flatter cornering and crisper steering response, the Maybach
57 S, powered by a special AMG prepared 604 HP V12 twin-turbo engine, can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than five seconds, and is capable of reaching a top speed of 172 mph.
With the “S” for “Special,” the new 57 S has been developed in response to customers who have expressed interest in a Maybach with even higher performance than the standard 57 model. The new 57 S is also expected to attract an eclectic mix of affluent buyers, many of whom currently own exotic sports cars. Unique exterior and interior appointments help identify this remarkable high performance sedan, while the first U.S.
production model that will be auctioned, will be further distinguished by exclusive feature appointments befitting its one-of-a-kind status.
The Maybach 57 S will join a multi-million dollar auction lineup of vintage sports and race cars including the legendary Scuderia Ferrari
*1932 Alfa Romeo P3 Tipo B Monoposto*, the Daytona winning *1964 Ford GT 40 Prototype*, a spectacular *1958 Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France
Berlinetta* and an ultra-rare *1960 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato* and other historically important vintage automobiles.
“Being familiar with the Maybach marque from the vintage era, we are very excited to host the debut of the 57 S at our Monterey sale,”
remarks Rob Myers, co-founder of RM Auctions. “It will be in great company.”
