Paris, France – For this 32nd show, Retromobile is offering an exhibition as new and original as it is prestigious: a dozen automobiles from the personal collection of Nick Mason, the drummer for Pink Floyd. Mason inherited the passion for beautiful cars from his father, a famous director of documentary films on the history of the automobile; and it is motor racing, with its production of adrenaline, which turned him towards race cars! He goes from the drum stool to the driver’s seat with the same pleasure and enters competitions as a private race car driver with his own vehicles. Between the 1980’s and today, he has participated five times in the 24 Heures du Mans and three in the Le Mans Classic.

From the Panhard racer (1901) to the Aston Martin Ulster (1935), from the Jaguar type D (1955) to the Ferrari 250 GTO (1962), from the Ferrari 512 S (1970) to the Mac Laren F1 (1995), it is a century of auto racing that Nick Mason is going to be sharing with the 100,000 visitors coming to Rétromobile.

The Polar Expeditions of Paul-Emile Victor—
In collaboration with the Expéditions Polaires Françaises and the Institut polaire, Retromobile is presenting the vehicles of the early expeditions led by Paul-Emile Victor. This great explorer was, in 1947, the first to use heavy tracked vehicles to travel across the frozen immensities.
Out of the forty or so tracked vehicles made especially for these expeditions, two, among the five still in existence, will be displayed in a decor evoking a bivouac on the ice. Paul-Emile Victor’s last companions in adventure will be present at Retromobile to share their experience and exploits with the visitors.

Christie’s and the World’s Finest Automobiles—
For the fifth consecutive year and confident of its success, Christie’s is exhibiting automobiles that will be put up for auction at the show on Saturday 17th February.
