Sydney, Australia, October 8, 2008 — As in the finance and housing markets, there are great opportunities for enthusiasts and collectors at Shannons Sydney Motor Show auction on Sunday, October 19, with many vendors keen to sell in the current economic climate and reserve prices adjusted accordingly.

For Ferrari enthusiasts, there has never been a better time to acquire a very collectable mid-engined V12 Testarossa, with the red, factory right hand drive 1985 coupe that has spent a number of years in storage expected to sell at a very realistic price.

Falcon GT-HO buyers should have a close look at the correct and original XW Phase I sedan with just 11,850 miles showing on its odometer. With the recent tightening of the muscle car market, the GT-HO is priced to sell well below its potential price of 12-18 months ago.

For Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts, there are three excellent opportunities: a beautifully-presented Signal Red 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL that has travelled 125,000km since new and is in exceptionally original, unmolested condition with books and full service history; a lovely Cream with Burgundy leather 1959 220S Coupe that has been with the current owner for the past 30 years and has travelled only 70,670 miles since new; and a sought-after, three-owner Moss Green 1970 280SE 3.5 Coupe in beautiful condition.

For those on an even tighter budget, the Red 1970 MGB MkII roadster that has travelled 2,000km since it was completely refurbished last year is also very realistically priced, while the buy of the auction for someone could be the 1955 Vespa APE three-wheeler in need of minor attention that is being offered for sale with no reserve price.

Memorabilia will also be in demand at the auction by keen collectors, with all lots including the five period petrol pumps, being sold unreserved.

And for NSW number plate collectors, there is a choice of eight black and white numerical plates and the personalized plate ‘Z’ on offer, with the number ‘643’ said to have a very reasonable reserve.

There are 25 classic vehicles and 27 number plate and memorabilia items in the Shannons auction, which will be staged in the Parkside Ballroom, Level 1, Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre from 2:30pm on Sunday October 19.

Show visitors will find a selection of eight special auction vehicles on display in Hall 4, while the remaining vehicles and memorabilia lots can be inspected free of charge throughout the Motor Show from October 9-19 in the Upper Gallery, Parkside Promenade, just outside Hall 6.
