The Quail in 2005 Honors a new race theme, additional Cuisines of the World, rare Lamborghini Miuras, and will continue to keep the event’s successful intimacy.
WHAT: The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering:
A full-day event created for the passionate and discerning connoisseur. In its third year, The Quail will offer guests a tribute to the legendary Mexican race, La Carrera Panamericana. Enhancing this theme will be an exceptional selection of 125 pre and post-war sports and racing cars and an extraordinary display of vintage motorcycles. The Quail strives to keep its attractions unique by incorporating primarily craftsmanship and interactive exhibits. Returning to The Quail, The Bay Area Engine Modelers, exhibiting fully operational miniature engines, and the Extreme Gravity Racers. Equally attractive will be the exhibition of Automotive Fine Art Photography, an important sale from Bonhams & Butterfields Auction featuring jewelry, automobilia and rare vintage cars, and The Cuisines of the World with fine wines and delectable fare.
Several of the exclusive cars on display on the lawn of Quail Lodge in 2005 will include:
· 20 vintage cars that competed in La Carrera Panamerican, the legendary and particularly challenging race that took place from 1950 to 1954 on the Mexican portion of the newly built Panamerican Road that was to unite the Northern and Southern American continents.
· 15 of the most original and rarest Lamborghini Miura
· 10 Alfa Romeos, the marque car of this year’s Vintage Car Week
Food & Wine
Highly acclaimed by its 2004 attendees, the fine cuisine and wine showcase is enhanced and expanded with new Bistros of a different kind alongside the European and California fare prepared by Quail Lodge and Bernardus Lodge’s renowned Executive Chef Cal Stamenov and his culinary team. Celebrated wines from world-class wineries will compliment the cuisine.
The day’s centerpiece will be the Bonhams & Butterfields Auction of luxury goods and concluding with the sale of historic cars, which commences after The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering.
The works of well-known automotive journalist and photographer Winston Goodfellow will be displayed with other photographer’s work at The Automotive Fine Art Photography Gallery at the event.
Attendees will have the unique opportunity to personally test drive one of the luxury cars from our Automotive sponsors representing the best automobiles in the world and experience Quail Lodge’s off-road hill climb.
Although the event is not yet in its profitable years, being just two years new, to keep with its philanthropic spirit, The Quail, has donated over $87,000 to its charities; Friends of Carmel Unified School District’s programs, which include; After School Homework programs, Opportunity Education, Vocational Scholarships, and special funds set aside for additional needs specifically for low-income and/or special needs students. And, the CHP11-99 Foundation, which aids families of California Highway Patrol members who have lost their lives in the line of duty
