For 10 years, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering has provided an unparalleled and exclusive experience for motorsports enthusiasts and collectors from around the world to enjoy rare collections of fine automobiles and motorcycles in a garden-party setting on the rolling greens of Quail Lodge Golf Club, in Carmel, Calif.  Hailed as “the highlight event of Monterey Car Week,” by Robb Report, The Quail will celebrate its 10th anniversary on August 17, 2012.

“Since its founding 10 years ago, The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering has stayed true to its vision of celebrating the extraordinary heritage of our automobile industry in an intimate fashion with a truly exceptional collection of impressive cars and motorcycles and camaraderie among automobile enthusiasts, collectors, hobbyists and friends,” said the Quail’s founder, The Hon. Sir Michael Kadoorie, Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited. “As we celebrate our 10th anniversary this year, I would especially like to thank all of our generous sponsors for their unwavering support in helping us redefine automobile gatherings, and – more meaningfully – to help us raise funds for many local and national charities over the years, namely the California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation, CASA of Monterey County, Rancho Cielo, Naval Post Graduate School Foundation and the American Red Cross, Monterey Bay Area Chapter.”

Debuting at the famed Monterey Car Week in 2003, The Quail has grown to be one of the world’s most intimate and exclusive celebrations of the luxury motoring lifestyle, with admission limited to only 3,000 attendees.  This year, The Quail will pay tribute to Pre-War Alfa Romeos, the 50th Anniversary of Iso Automobili, Sports and Racing Motorcycles, and will introduce the Revolutionary Designs and FIVA Preservation Classes. Rare automobiles and motorcycles also will be on exhibit from leading collectors, including William E. Connor II’s 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring Spyder, one of the most beautiful pre-war motorcars in the world.  The Quail’s popular Fireside Chat speaker series will return and will feature industry luminaries, including accomplished author and former managing director and designer of Iso Rivolta, Piero Rivolta, and famed journalist and photographer Winston Goodfellow.

“Each year we strive to feature iconic cars and guest speakers that truly capture the spirit of the event that our attendees have come to look forward to and cherish as they journey from around the world to The Quail,” said Gordon McCall, co-founder of The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. “To celebrate our first decade, we’re excited to showcase our first “Best of Show” winner from 2003, William E. Connor II’s 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring Spyder, and feature that beloved car on our commemorative 10th Anniversary poster.”

Guests will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a number of prestigious automobiles, shop for fine jewelry, and enjoy an epicurean journey from five signature Culinary Pavilions featuring the cuisines of Asia, Great Britain, France, Italy and Carmel Valley paired with fine wines from Roederer Estate.  Additional event highlights include helicopter rides to nearby Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, test drives with the Land Rover Experience Driving School, and the highly-anticipated Bonhams auction of fine jewelry, watches, automobilia and an exceptional selection of historically significant motorcars.

Tickets to The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering are $450 per person ($100 for children 12 and under) and include admission to the event, wine tasting, fine cuisine, a collectible poster and magazine, live musical entertainment, and parking.

On May 5, 2012, motorcycle enthusiasts can view some of the world’s finest pre- and post-war sports and racing bikes on display at the Quail’s sister event, the fourth annual The Quail Motorcycle Gathering at Quail Lodge Golf Club.  Tickets for the day-long event are $65 per adult ($15 for children 12 and under) and include admission, an All-American barbeque lunch and live musical entertainment.
