The Worldwide Group, auctioneers of fine historic and collector cars, has procured the sale of two private Mopar and muscle car collections, to be presented at the fourth annual Houston Classic Auction on May 3rd 2008, in Seabrook Texas.

Five significant Mopars, from the collection of Rick Perez, will compete for the attention of major bidders in Houston. Among these are a 1968 Plymouth Cuda “Sox & Martin” racecar, one of approximately only ten built and the sole small block car ever raced. Designed to beat its Chevy small block competition, this example was the 1968 winner of the Winter Nationals in Pamona, California, has less than 15,000 original miles and retains all original sheet metal. A letter from Ronnie Sox is included in the sale, confirming that this was indeed the car that raced.

Also going under the hammer at Houston is a 1971 Dodge Hemi Challenger, in Plum Crazy, one of one with white interior. Of the fifty eight cars built, the whereabouts of only thirty five are known today and this is one of only four T/A Hemi Challengers exported to Canada. This remarkable vehicle, again offered for sale at no reserve, is numbers matching and fully documented.

The Perez collection further includes a 1971 Plymouth Cuda 440/6 Pack, totally original and once more, fully documented, numbers matching and one of the finest examples known. Completing this “no reserve” collection is a 1970 Hemi Superbird and 1970 Dodge Challenger with T/A hood, one of only three in existence.

John Kruse, Managing Partner of the Worldwide Group, said “we are honored to present the serious collector with the opportunity to acquire such a significant range of American race and road history. If you like power and performance, you will love this select group of cars.”

Also starring in Houston are seventeen cars from another private Texas collection, also presented for sale at no reserve. Included is a one owner,30,000 original mile, 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 and 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible, with a plethora of factory options including “level air”, the rarest of all options available at that time.
