Auburn, IN, January 8, 2008 — Worldwide Auctioneers has confirmed that an exceptional and extremely rare 1965 Corvette Roadster will be offered for sale at its fifth annual Houston Classic Auction on May 2nd. Owned and raced by Herb Caplan alongside the legendary Dick Guldstrand, this “8-Ball Cobra killer” was one of the most competitive cars of its day, winning 46 of 49 of its races in one season on the West Coast. Today restored to its original 1966 race specification, “this is a well known and respected automobile with a wonderful history that would certainly be a welcome entrant at any vintage race event”, said John Kruse, Managing Partner.

The May sale will also include a magnificent Pebble Beach Award winning 1933 Duesenberg LaGrande Dual Cowl Phaeton and a remarkable 1936 Auburn 852 Boattail Speedster, an AACA National First Place Award winner. “The Houston Classic Auction has matured into one of the premier events on the calendar and we are proud to once again present collectors with the opportunity to bid for a diverse and distinctive range of quality hand selected automobiles”, said Rod Egan, Managing Partner and Chief Auctioneer.
