Barrington, IL. February 19, 2008 –- The second annual Barrington Concours d’Elegance, Legends & Legacies, will be held on October 3-5, 2008. The event is hosted by Barrington Area Conservation Trust and Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, with one hundred percent of the net proceeds benefiting these two organizations.

Legends and Legacies is currently accepting nomination forms for its 2008 showfield, either in competition or for exhibition only. The Concours will be limited to 100 automobiles in 12 classes. As new features in 2008, Legends & Legacies will also be including Concours Couture and motorcycle classes.

The inaugural Barrington Concours drew nearly 3,000 people and was so successful that it was featured on the cover of the March 2008 issue of Car Collector magazine. Renowned car collector Malcolm Pray brought his 1937 Delahaye 135M, which had been exhibited at the 1939 World’s Fair, and Rick Dresang brought the 1972 All-American Racers (Gurney) Eagle, which was driven by Mark Donohue in the Indy 500. Automobiles of similar stature and quality are planned for 2008.

The Concours weekend will begin on Friday, October 3, with a special “Celebration of Speed” at the Autobahn Country Club raceway in Joliet, Illinois. A Friday night welcome dinner in Barrington and Saturday’s Road Rally and “Village Day” will highlight the cars throughout the Barrington area. Tours of magnificent Barrington-area estates will be arranged for special guests and their spouses, with Saturday evening’s gala featuring a sneak peek at some of the fabulous Concours automobiles. As the grand finale, the Sunday Concours will be held at the magnificent Arlington Park just outside Barrington. Arlington is an international racecourse owned by Churchill Downs; the facility has made a special exception to allow us to present our showfield of cars on the most beautiful infield in the world, with the stunning winner’s circle available for our awards ceremony.

Legends and Legacies is a result of the collaborative vision of the event’s hosts and beneficiaries, Barrington Area Conservation Trust and Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, who believe in the strength of partnership and who work diligently to preserve and promote some of the most important legacies of the Barrington area: compassion, conservation, and community involvement. Barrington Concours Chief Judge Jonathan A. Stein commented, “The 2007 Barrington Concours was one of the most gracious North American–based events I’ve ever attended. The graciousness and the way exhibitors and judges are treated makes a big difference to the overall experience. It’s also clear that the organizers are building an event that is here to stay for many years.”
