Bonhams has appointed Philip Kantor, currently International Director Business Development, as the new Head of the European motor car department. With ten years experience in the motor car auction business and with Bonhams since 2007, Kantor will be responsible for all mainland Europe sales on the Bonhams motoring calendar – currently Paris, Monaco and Reims venues. Grégory Dewailly and Romain Clertan have been recruited as specialist and administrator respectively and will be based in the mainland Europe motor car department in Paris.

In 1993 Dewailly helped to coordinate the first Festival of Speed at Goodwood, an event that Bonhams, as a founder sponsor, is still closely associated with. Over the last seventeen years he has worked for a variety of companies on the collector’s car scene, including ATS and Peter Auto, building up an impressive network with excellent experience. Between 2001 and 2002 he worked as a consultant for Bonhams and Brooks in Geneva, and most recently he has been working as French consultant for RM Auctions.

Clertan also has experience in the car department of an auction house having worked for Christie’s International Motor Cars where he was the administrator responsible for the Rétromobile and Le Mans Classic auctions. Most recently he has worked for Artcurial.

Dewailly and Clertan are both multilingual and will be based in Paris.

James Knight, International Head of Motoring at Bonhams comments, “I’m delighted to welcome Grégory and Romain on board. Under Philip’s guidance and experience, with their combined knowledge of the car auction world, they will be great assets to Bonhams international team. I look forward to working with them on our Monaco auction and other future events.”
